Initially, Starscream organized Shockwave’s release using the cryotube’s remote. These scenes were cut for time fairly early on. While they were a lot of fun, they took up a fair amount of screentime and distracted from the main thrust of the episode. So, while I’m sad I didn’t get to see my boards of my fave murder-jet make it to screen, I have to agree that the cut was, ultimately, the right decision.
The first sequence here takes place after Megatron puts a stop to the kid’s game of pass the Allspark, which was boarded by Marvin Madrid. You can catch his drawing fading out at the beginning. The second sequence takes place after Thrash leaves the group to brood.
As usual, we didn’t have the voice recordings during the storyboard phase. But, they did come in during the rough animatic phase! So, you all can thank our animatic editor, Jeff Newman, for the dulcet tones of emergency sirens and Steve Blum!
